Illinois. World's Columbian Exposition - The Columbian Guard Honorable Discharge Certificate. Specimen certificate. 189-. Vignette of sword, gun and helmet on top and cross bow on bottom. Back has red "Last Specimen - Not to be Given Out". The Columbian Guard were involved with keeping order at the Columbian Exposition and also as acting as unofficial ambassadors. Almost all were from military or police service and were between 21 and 35 years of age and had to have certain physical attributes including height requirements. ABNC produced the final design and vignette for this certificate. Included is a 4.5 x 2.5 inch intaglio engraved uncensored proof on glossy paper. Extremely light fold vertically down middle is barely visible. Also included is a very similar designed photo proof of the Playboy Bunny in a 1/2 circle and the totally uncensored photo (by far the best pose) of the centerfold of Miss February that the vignette was based on. It is easy to see the differences from the original model to the completed version. This proof vignette is still more risque than the final version by ABNC used on the Playboy stock certificate.
